Scientific Spectrum Midwest, Inc. was founded in late 1987, functioning as a sales representative / dealer for manufacturers in industrial Laser Engraving, Laser Cutting and Laser Marking as well as laser based optical instrumentation. We serve the Midwest territory of Chicago, Illinois, Indiana, southern Wisconsin, eastern Iowa and Missouri. Over the past twenty five years we have successfully sold numerous product lines for many different manufacturers. We offer on-site sales, service and training to all of our customers.
We have won many sales awards and been recognized among the top sales organization in the nation for our manufacturers. We are among the top performing sales rep organization for Universal Laser Systems we have won eight sales awards in the past ten years.
The founder of the company, Stan Potempa, has been involved in the outside sales of industrial and scientific equipment for over thirty years. Stan has a B.A. with Honors, in Physics and Mathematics from Lewis University in Romeoville, Il. He also has an M.B.A. in Marketing and Sales from Keller Graduate School in Chicago. He has been active in the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, having presented technical papers in Laser Material Processing
at various S.M.E. meetings and conferences. In the past he was an Adjunct Professor at Triton College, teaching Laser and Electro-Optics Technology at the evening college, and currently is on the adjunct (evening) faculty of the Business School at Lewis University. He is currently on the advisory board for the Laser & Electro Optics program at the College of Lake County, having served in similar positions for numerous other colleges and universities.
David Coons is our senior laser technician with over 14 years of laser experience. He is a retired industrial education teacher with two advanced degrees and over fourteen years of laser diagnostics and repair experience. He is a certified laser technician. His experience has made him one of the premier laser trainers in the country.
